WALLACE WALKER
Since the age of 2, Wallace has had a passion for music. Growing up in church he began developing knowledge and love for drums. His parents purchased his first drum kit at the age of 4. From then on, he grew skillfully and musically to a journey of various styles and genres of music. Gospel was the first area of music Wallace studied where he learned the importance of “pocket” drumming, learning rudiments, as well as reading music. After only one year of high school, Wallace was asked to lead the drumline as a section leader in the band. During these years he was turned on to “old school” music. His parents would even sometimes play music from Al Green, Johnny Taylor, and B.B. King to break away from gospel. From those genres he found funk and soul to be the some of the best music to play. Wallace was immediately hip to Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Gap Band, Prince, and Cameo. At the end of his senior year Wallace auditioned for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and received a full music scholarship. Wallace Walker has had an active career starting at a young age covering all genres. His key attributes include a solid technique & music versatility along with precision & placement that gives his playing that well rounded professional sound. He’s from Memphis TN, and now lives in Los Angeles California. Memphis trained him to have soul, feel, and an aggressive style of playing which comes in handy with the artists he’s worked with. He has been the session and touring drummer for such gospel and R&B artists: Stellar Award nominated Vincent Tharpe & Kenosis, soul singer Shoshana Bean, Grammy nominated Kelly Price, Eric Benet and is currently on the road with Stephanie Mills.
